Frequently Asked Questions

What is a non-diet dietitian?

A non-diet dietitian helps you care for your health without diets, restriction, or pursuing weight loss. The focus is on rebuilding body trust, finding ease with food, and creating sustainable habits that support your physical and emotional wellbeing. It’s all about adding nourishment, flexibility, and compassion

- not rigid rules or restrictive meal plans.

What does “weight-inclusive” mean?
Being weight-inclusive means I don’t make assumptions about your health, habits, or worth based on your body size. Instead of focusing on weight loss, we look at behaviours that genuinely support your wellbeing - physically, mentally, and emotionally.

What does a HAES-aligned approach look like in practice?

A HAES® (Health at Every Size®) aligned approach means we move away from weight-focused care and instead explore ways to support your wellbeing that are realistic, compassionate, and sustainable. This may include nourishing your body consistently, improving your relationship with food, reconnecting with body cues, and caring for your emotional wellbeing — without rigid rules or pressure to change your body size.

Do you work with people who still want to lose weight?

Yes. It’s very common to have mixed feelings about weight and body image, especially in a culture that places so much value on body size. You don’t need to “give up” the desire for weight loss to work with me.

Rather than centring the scale, we gently shift the focus toward supporting your overall wellbeing - physically, emotionally, and mentally. Together, we work on building sustainable habits, improving your relationship with food and body, and helping you feel more nourished, supported, and at ease in yourself.

Do you work with clients taking GLP-1 medications?

Yes. I work with clients who are taking GLP-1 medications, such as Ozempic or Mounjaro, and aim to provide supportive, non-judgemental care alongside their medical team.

Our work together may focus on maintaining adequate nourishment, supporting your relationship with food and body, managing side effects, preserving quality of life, and ensuring your nutritional needs are being met throughout treatment. My approach remains weight-inclusive, non-diet and centred on your overall wellbeing, rather than solely on weight or appearance.

How does a telehealth session work?
All sessions are held online via a secure video platform. You’ll receive a link before your appointment via Cliniko, our practice software platform.

Do I need a referral to see you?
No referral is needed to book. However, if you have an Eating Disorder Plan or a Chronic Condition Management Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates for eligible sessions. You will need to provide these prior to your session in order to claim a rebate.

Do you offer Medicare or private health rebates?
Yes. Rebates are available for eligible clients under Medicare and through most private health insurers. We can guide you through what applies to your situation before your initial consultation.

How long are sessions, and how often do we meet?

Initial and review sessions are both 50 minutes long. Some people benefit from more regular support at first, such as weekly or fortnightly sessions, while others may prefer monthly or less frequent follow-up appointments as they progress.

Together, we’ll decide on a pace that feels supportive, sustainable, and suited to your individual needs.

What’s your cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or reschedules. This helps keep space available for others who might need it. Late cancellations may incur a fee (50% for less than 24 hours' notice and 100% of the consultation fee for no-shows).

Do you only work with women?

While my practice has a particular focus on women’s health and wellbeing, I welcome people of all genders and gender identities.

Do you work with eating disorders?

Yes. I support clients experiencing a wide range of eating and body image concerns, including disordered eating, chronic dieting, binge eating, and recovery from diagnosed eating disorders such as Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, ARFID, and OSFED.

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to each individual’s needs. Where appropriate, I work alongside psychologists, GPs, psychiatrists, and other health professionals to provide supportive, best-practice multidisciplinary care.

I’m not sure if this is the right fit - what should I do?
That’s completely okay. A free 15-minute discovery call is the best way to chat through your goals and see if we’re a good match. There’s no pressure - just an open, honest conversation.

14. What can I expect from our first session?
It's a time to get to know you. We’ll talk about your goals, health history, relationship with food, or as I call it, 'your food story' and what’s been feeling hard. The first session lays the foundation of our work together and it informs the plan forward. Every session is collaborative and paced to your comfort.
