Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a non-diet dietitian?
A non-diet dietitian helps you care for your health without diets, restriction, or pursuing weight loss. The focus is on rebuilding body trust, finding ease with food, and creating sustainable habits that support your physical and emotional wellbeing. It’s all about adding nourishment, flexibility, and compassion
- not more rules or restrictive meal plans.

2. What does “weight-inclusive” mean?
Being weight-inclusive means I don’t make assumptions about your health, habits, or worth based on your body size. Instead of focusing on weight loss, we look at behaviours that genuinely support your wellbeing - physically, mentally, and emotionally.
3. Do you work with people who still want to lose weight?
It’s completely understandable to have mixed feelings about weight. You don’t need to let go of that desire to work with me. We simply shift the focus from the scale to how you feel - supporting your health in a sustainable, compassionate way.

4. What’s the difference between nutrition therapy and health coaching?
Nutrition therapy focuses on medical nutrition care - supporting concerns like hormonal changes, gut health, or eating challenges. Health coaching helps you put things into practice through behaviour change, mindset, and lifestyle support. In most cases, sessions naturally blend both.

5. How does a virtual session work?
All sessions are held online via a secure video platform. You’ll receive a link before your appointment via Cliniko, our practice software platform.

6. Do I need a referral to see you?
No referral is needed to book. However, if you have an Eating Disorder Plan or a Chronic Disease Management Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates for eligible sessions. You will need to provide these prior to your session in order to claim a rebate.

7. Do you offer Medicare or private health rebates?
Yes. Rebates are available for eligible clients under Medicare and through most private health insurers. We can guide you through what applies to your situation before your initial consultation.

8. How long are sessions, and how often do we meet?
Initial sessions are around 60 minutes; follow-up sessions are typically 45 minutes. Some people might need more frequent support at first, e.g. weekly or fortnightly, while others may prefer or may only need monthly or less frequent follow up (more common to help clients maintain their progress). We’ll decide together what is right and works best for you.

9. What’s your cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or reschedules. This helps keep space available for others who might need it. Late cancellations may incur a fee (50% for less than 24 hours' notice and 100% of the consultation fee for no-shows).

10. Do you only work with midlife women?
Although I focus on working with women who are in midlife, I also work with women across different life stages, from young adulthood through post-menopause — who are seeking a more peaceful, empowered relationship with food and body.

11. Can you help with perimenopause or menopause symptoms?
Yes. We can explore evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle strategies that may improve symptoms of peri- and menopause and support hormonal balance, energy, mood, sleep, and overall wellbeing - without restrictive diets or 'quick fixes'.

12. Do you work with eating disorders?
Yes. I support clients across the spectrum of eating challenges, including disordered eating, binge eating, chronic dieting, and recovery from diagnosed eating disorders such as Anorexia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Bulimia Nervosa and others. I work collaboratively, alongside therapists, GPs and other professionals for best practice care.

13. I’m not sure if this is the right fit - what should I do?
That’s completely okay. A free 15-minute discovery call is the best way to chat through your goals and see if we’re a good match. There’s no pressure — just an open, honest conversation.

14. What can I expect from our first session?
It's a time to get to know you. We’ll talk about your goals, health history, relationship with food, or as I call it, 'your food story' and what’s been feeling hard. The first session lays the foundation of our work together and it informs the plan forward. Every session is collaborative and paced to your comfort.
